वैशम्पायन उवाच
As a chapter-ending colophon, the verse chiefly teaches how the epic frames violence ethically: the narrative unit is marked as complete after the elimination of a dangerous aggressor, implying that force is justified when it protects the vulnerable and restores order (dharma) rather than serving cruelty or ambition.
This line is not a spoken action-verse but a concluding notice: it declares that the 153rd chapter has ended, situated in the Ādi Parva under the Hiḍimba-slaying section, and that this chapter’s content was connected to the killing of Liḍimbāyuraka.
