एकचक्रानिवासे ब्राह्मणगृहदुःखश्रवणम् | Hearing the Brāhmaṇa Household’s Distress at Ekacakrā

जितेन्द्रियश्च वसुधां प्राप्स्यतीति च मेडब्रवीत्‌ । विज्ञातमिति तत्‌ सर्व प्रत्युक्तो विदुरो मया,“यदि तुम अपनी इन्द्रियोंको वशमें रखोगे तो सारी पृथ्वीका राज्य प्राप्त कर लोगे, यह बात भी उन्होंने मुझसे बतायी थी और इन्हीं बातोंके लिये मैंने विदुरजीको उत्तर दिया था कि “मैं सब समझ गया”

Transliteration

jitendriyaś ca vasudhāṃ prāpsyatīti ca medabravīt | vijñātam iti tat sarvaṃ pratyukto viduro mayā |

Translation

Yudhiṣṭhira sagte: „Er sagte mir auch: ‚Wenn du deine Sinne im Zaum hältst, wirst du die Herrschaft über die ganze Erde erlangen.‘ Auf all diese Punkte bezogen antwortete ich Vidura: ‚Ich habe alles verstanden.‘“
