Vāraṇāvata-prasaṃsā and the Pāṇḍavas’ Departure (वरणावत-प्रशंसा तथा पाण्डव-प्रयाणम्)
कुरूणामस्ति यद् वित्तं राज्यं चेद॑ सराष्ट्रकम् । त्वमेव परमो राजा सर्वे च कुरवस्तव,कौरवोंके पास जो धन, राज्य-वैभव तथा राष्ट्र है, उसके आप ही सबसे बड़े राजा हैं। समस्त कौरव आपके अधीन हैं
Kurūṇām asti yad vittaṁ rājyaṁ ced saraṣṭrakam | tvam eva paramo rājā sarve ca kuravas tava ||
Bhīṣma sprach: «Welchen Reichtum die Kurus auch besitzen und welches Königreich sie samt Land und Provinzen halten—über all dies bist du der höchste König. Alle Kurus stehen unter deiner Autorität.»
भीष्म उवाच
Legitimate sovereignty entails overarching responsibility: the one recognized as the supreme ruler is accountable for the wealth, territory, and welfare of the entire Kuru polity, and the clan’s members are expected to align under that lawful authority.
Bhīṣma is affirming the addressee’s paramount status within the Kuru house, stating that the Kurus’ wealth and kingdom—including the broader realm—fall under his supreme kingship, and that all Kurus are subject to his rule.
