Pāṇḍu’s Marriages, Conquests, and Triumphal Return (पाण्डोर्विवाह-विजय-प्रत्यागमनम्)
प्रादुर्बभूवाविदित: क्षणेन कुरुनन्दन । तस्मै पूजां ततः कृत्वा सुताय विधिपूर्वकम्
prādurbabhūvāviditaḥ kṣaṇena kurunandana | tasmai pūjāṃ tataḥ kṛtvā sutāya vidhipūrvakam ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „O Wonne der Kurus, in einem Augenblick erschien er plötzlich—unbemerkt von allen. Dann erwiesen sie ihm nach Vorschrift Verehrung und vollzogen die für den Sohn vorgeschriebenen Riten in rechter Weise.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores dharma expressed as proper reverence and ritual correctness: when an extraordinary guest or presence appears, one should respond with due honor (pūjā) and carry out prescribed duties (vidhi) carefully, especially regarding family and lineage rites.
A figure suddenly appears without being noticed at first. In response, the people present honor him with worship and then proceed to perform the appropriate, rule-based rites connected with the son/offspring.
