Adhyaya 84: शिवव्रतकथनम्

Uma–Maheshvara Vrata, Shula-dana, and Month-wise Ekabhakta Vrata

ब्राह्मणानां सहस्रं च भोजयित्वा यथाविधि विद्याविनयसम्पन्नं ब्राह्मणं वेदपारगम्

brāhmaṇānāṃ sahasraṃ ca bhojayitvā yathāvidhi vidyāvinayasampannaṃ brāhmaṇaṃ vedapāragam

Nachdem man tausend Brāhmaṇas nach vorgeschriebener Weise gespeist hat, soll man besonders einen Brāhmaṇa ehren und unterstützen, der von Wissen und Demut erfüllt ist und das jenseitige Ufer des Veda erreicht hat; so wird die Gabe wahrhaft würdig für Śiva, den Pati, der die Fesseln (pāśa) des pashu (der Seele) löst.
