Jyotish-chakra: Surya’s Motion and Monthly Retinues
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
By describing the orderly revolution of the Sun through the mandalas, the verse points to a governed cosmos—supporting the Linga as the sign of Pati (Shiva), the unseen regulator behind all cosmic rhythms honored in Linga-puja.
Though Surya is the visible mover, Shaiva Siddhanta reads such cosmic regularity as dependent on Pati: Shiva is the inner ruler (antaryamin) who empowers motion while remaining transcendent and unbound by the spheres he sustains.
It supports dhyana on cosmic order—using Surya’s steady revolution as a meditation cue for Pashupata-style contemplation: the pashu (soul) observes the moving mandalas and turns inward to the unmoving Pati who grants power to all movement.
