FAQs

It does not define Ātman directly; it establishes the authoritative transmission of sacred teaching through Vyāsa and the Purāṇic narrator—an essential preface to later metaphysical instruction in the Kurma Purana.

No specific Yoga practice is taught in this verse; it sets the stage for subsequent teachings (including Pāśupata-oriented discipline and Ishvara-centered contemplation) by grounding the discourse in remembered scriptural authority (Vyāsa).

The verse is part of the narration framework and does not discuss Shiva–Vishnu directly; it prepares the listener for the Kurma Purana’s later synthesis by emphasizing a single, reliable lineage of instruction rather than sectarian rivalry.
