FAQs

This verse emphasizes dharmic sequence: offerings are to be allocated first to the maternal line, then to the paternal Pitṛs, and then to the maternal grandfathers—order is treated as part of ritual correctness.

Piṇḍa-dāna and related śrāddha acts are not only about giving, but about giving to the right ancestral recipients in a prescribed progression, ensuring the intended Pitṛ groups are properly satisfied.

When conducting śrāddha (personally or via a priest), ensure the sankalpa and offerings explicitly include maternal ancestors first, then paternal ancestors, and then the maternal grandfather line, following the stated ritual sequence.
