Afterlife Stage: Svarga
Concept: Properly executed dāna yields prolonged celestial honor (svarga-phala).
Vedantic Theme: Karmaphala doctrine: ritual-ethical action produces finite but exalted results; implicitly points beyond svarga to higher liberation as a separate aim.
Application: Let generosity be disciplined and consistent; understand that ethical actions have tangible long-term consequences (reputation, wellbeing), even if framed here as celestial reward.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Type: celestial realm
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 2.34.98-100 (the ‘manner’ of giving that leads to this fruit)
This verse states that giving in the prescribed manner yields powerful puṇya, leading to honor in Svarga for over a hundred divine years.
It links a specific righteous act—generous distribution (vitaret)—to a concrete karmic result: exalted status in svargaloka for a long celestial duration.
Practice intentional charity—give regularly and respectfully—treating dāna as a dharmic discipline that purifies intention and builds merit.
