Haristuti-saṅgraha: Devatā–Ṛṣi Praṇāma, Nāma-māhātmya, and Vairāgya from Deha-āsakti
Concept: Nāma-śravaṇa and nāma-kīrtana as supreme sweetness and purifier; aspiration for constant nāma on the tongue.
Vedantic Theme: Nāma as upāya (means) and śuddhi-kāraka; the Supreme transcends para/apara distinctions yet is approachable through devotion.
Application: Establish daily nāma-japa/kīrtana; guard speech; begin and end the day with Hari-nāma so it naturally ‘abides on the tongue’.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Type: divine assembly
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 3.7.31 (prayer to remove kubuddhi); Garuda Purana 3.7.34 (Hari-nāma as criterion of true brahminhood)
This verse presents śravaṇa (hearing) and anukīrtana (repeated chanting) of the Lord’s Name as a uniquely sweet and superior spiritual truth that purifies the devotee and anchors devotion.
Narada asks for inner purification so that the Lord’s Name naturally stays on the tongue; the implied path is sustained remembrance through sound (nāma), which refines consciousness and supports liberation-oriented devotion.
Build a daily routine of listening to and reciting a Vishnu mantra or nāma (e.g., Vishnu Sahasranama or simple nāma-japa) with sincerity, aiming for steady remembrance rather than occasional ritual alone.
