Lord Vishnu (speaking to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Hari-prasāda as the decisive cause for jñāna and mokṣa, with bhakti as the inner strengthening that makes liberation attainable.
Vedantic Theme: Grace-assisted liberation; bhakti as a purifier and stabilizer of antaḥkaraṇa enabling jñāna-niṣṭhā (steadfast knowledge).
Application: Cultivate steady devotion and ethical straightforwardness (ṛjutā); seek knowledge as a fruit of surrender rather than egoic striving; honor teachers and sattvic exemplars.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana (general): bhakti as purifier leading to mokṣa; lists of Viṣṇu-bhaktas among devas/ṛṣis/kings in adjacent verses (3.24.28–31)
The verse states that supreme knowledge and liberation are attained through Hari’s grace, indicating that divine favor crowns spiritual effort and makes moksha possible.
It links moksha with anuttama-jñāna (unsurpassed knowledge) and emphasizes bhakti as the force that strengthens the practitioner’s inner being, making liberation attainable.
Cultivate steady devotion alongside study and disciplined practice; keep conduct “ṛju” (upright and sincere), treating spiritual growth as both inner transformation and grace-centered surrender.
