Sṛṣṭi-krama, Pratibimba-Upādhi, and Viṣṇu as Primary Brahman
with Pralaya and Nāma-Stuti
Lord Vishnu
Concept: Even at dissolution, certain principles/forms do not ‘become one’ in the way imagined; their mode of co-abiding persists according to tattva-order.
Vedantic Theme: Distinguishing absolute identity from inseparable co-existence (śakti–śaktimān relation); caution against simplistic merger metaphors.
Application: Hold nuanced theology: unity without erasing functional distinctions; avoid forcing metaphysical conclusions from cosmological imagery.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Type: cosmic event-state
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 3.2.28
This verse uses pralaya to clarify metaphysical continuity: even at cosmic dissolution, divine principles remain established rather than being reduced to an indistinct merger.
By emphasizing “non-merging” and the presence of a viṃba (reflected form), the verse supports the idea that identity and subtle-form distinctions can persist across cosmic phases, a key background for the Purana’s afterlife and subtle-body discussions.
Cultivate steady devotion and ethical living with the understanding that actions and identity have continuity; spiritual practice is not merely symbolic but shapes enduring subtle impressions (saṃskāras).
