Lord Vishnu (in dialogue with Garuda/Vinata-putra)

Concept: Śraddhā and proper procedure (vidhi) empower a protective sacred object; purity and right wearing bring śrī (prosperity).

Vedantic Theme: Īśvara-anugraha mediated through śraddhā and niyama; external upāya supporting inner steadiness (antahkaraṇa-śuddhi).

Application: Wear the Bhīṣma-maṇi correctly (neck/limbs) with faith, cleanliness, and restraint; treat it as a vow-supported protective aid rather than mere ornament.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.76 (maṇi/ratna-prayoga context; protective effects elaborated in adjacent verses)

FAQs

This verse presents Bhīṣma-maṇi as an auspicious protective object: when worn with śraddhā and properly set, it is said to bring sustained prosperity and well-being.

It does not directly describe the post-death journey; instead, it emphasizes how faith-backed, rule-following observances in embodied life are believed to generate auspicious outcomes.

Treat religious or spiritual practices as disciplines: follow a clear method, keep purity of intent, and cultivate śraddhā rather than relying on mere display or expense.
