Hayagrīva Pūjāvidhi: Root Mantra, Nyāsa, Maṇḍala-Devatā Worship, and Stotra
Lord Vishnu (in instruction to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Meditative cosmogony culminates in recognizing the divine form within—Hayagrīva as the inner Lord and source of knowledge—accessed through Oṁ.
Vedantic Theme: Antaryāmin and pratibimba: the divine is realized within the ‘egg’ of experience; Oṁ as pointer to Brahman beyond names/forms.
Application: Use a structured visualization: imagine a luminous egg (field of awareness), intone Oṁ to ‘open’ it, then contemplate Hayagrīva in the heart-space as the source of clarity and learning.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Type: cosmic interior (dhyana-space)
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.34.11-12 (Hayagriva/Vishnu form description); Garuda Purana 1.34.13 (nyasa with limb and root mantras)
This verse presents Oṁ as the transformative sound by which the “cosmic egg” is opened—symbolizing that realization unfolds through Praṇava-centered contemplation.
Rather than describing post-death travel, it points to an inner path: by mantra (Oṁ) and visualization, one recognizes the Self as divine (Hayagrīva), implying liberation through knowledge and meditation.
Use Oṁ japa with steady visualization: contemplate the inner source of awareness and invoke Hayagrīva as the principle of awakened knowledge before study, worship, or meditation.
