maheraṇāya cakṣuse / oṃ yo vaḥ śivatamo rasaḥ / tasya bhājayeteha naḥ / aśatīriva mātaraḥ / oṃ tasmā araṅgamāma vo yasya kṣayāya jinvatha / āpo jana yathā ca naḥ / oṃ sumitriyā na āpa oṣadhayaḥ santu oṃ durmitriyāstasmai santu yo 'smān dveṣṭi yañca vayaṃ dviṣmaḥ / oṃ drupadādivamumucānaḥ svinnaḥ snāto malādiva / pūtaṃ pavitreṇevājyamāpaḥ śundhantu mainasaḥ / oṃ ṛtaṃ ca satyaṃ cābhīddhāttapaso 'dhyajāyata / tatorātryajāyata / tataḥ samudror'ṇavaḥ samudrādarṇavādadhisaṃvatsaro ajāyata / ahaurātrāṇi vidadhadviśvasya miṣato vaśī / sūryācandramasau dhātā yathāpūrvamakalpayat / divaṃ ca pṛthivīṃ cāntarikṣamatho svaḥ
Für das große, vorwärts schreitende Auge (die Sonne). O Wasser—welches auch immer die heiligste, glückverheißendste Essenz in euch ist, gewährt uns hier einen Anteil daran, wie sanfte Mütter. O Wasser, wir nahen euch um Schutz; stärkt uns, damit Wohnstatt und Wohlergehen nicht zugrunde gehen—damit ihr Wasser für die Menschen seid und auch für uns. Mögen Wasser und heilende Kräuter uns freundlich sein; doch mögen sie dem feindlich sein, der uns hasst, und dem, den wir hassen. Wie ein Mensch vom Pfahl befreit, wie einer, der Schweiß und Unrat abgewaschen hat, mögen die Wasser unseren inneren Geist reinigen, wie geklärte Butter durch ein Sieb gereinigt wird. Aus der hitzegeborenen Askese entstanden Ṛta (kosmische Ordnung) und Satya (Wahrheit); daraus entstand die Nacht; daraus entstanden Ozean und Flut; aus Ozean und Flut entstand das Jahr. Der Ordner, der alles Bewegte beherrscht, setzte Tag und Nacht ein; und wie zuvor ordnete der Schöpfer Sonne und Mond, Himmel und Erde, den Zwischenraum und die höhere Welt.
