Prāṇeśvara Garuḍa-Mantra: Timing (Velā), Nāga-Grahas, Nyāsa, Haṃsa-Rite, and Viṣa-Cikitsā
Lord Vishnu (teaching Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Dosha: Vata
Concept: Lateralization of the lunar/prāṇic abiding: right side in men, left side in women, attributed to vāyu’s carrying action.
Vedantic Theme: Guṇa-prakṛti operations within the body; Self remains unaffected witness.
Application: In breath practice, observe dominant nostril/side tendencies; cultivate balance (e.g., gentle nāḍī-śodhana) without rigid essentialism.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.19.11 (ordered ascent through loci); Garuda Purana 1.19.13 (Haṃsa-bīja, purity of Self-seed)
The verse links life-continuity to subtle principles: Chandra as a regulating lunar principle and Vayu as the carrier of prāṇa, indicating how vitality is understood to reside and operate within the body.
It states a traditional mapping: for men, vitality is associated with the right side; for women, with the left—attributed to the functioning of the life-bearing vāyu (prāṇa’s movement).
Use it as a contemplative teaching on prāṇa-awareness—supporting breath discipline, calm living, and mindful preparation for end-of-life rites rather than as a standalone medical rule.
