Concept: Regulation of sexual conduct (niyama) is framed as achievable through prescribed substances; fidelity/restraint is treated as an attainable behavioral outcome.
Vedantic Theme: Indriya-nigraha (sense-restraint) as supportive discipline; however, the means are pharmacological rather than contemplative.
Application: Interpret as a historical witness to kāma-niyama ideals; in modern terms, emphasize consent, relational ethics, and non-harm approaches to fidelity and self-control.
Primary Rasa: shringara
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.180 (continuation of sexual-control/vaśīkaraṇa remedies)
This verse links dharmic conduct to control of desire, emphasizing fidelity and restraint as a protective discipline for ethical living.
By prescribing restraint and naming supportive herbs, it frames desire-control as a practical, embodied discipline aligned with dharma rather than mere theory.
Cultivate fidelity and self-regulation; if using herbal supports, do so responsibly and with qualified Ayurvedic guidance, prioritizing ethical intention and mental discipline.
