Roganidāna: Definitions, Fivefold Diagnostic Method, and Doṣa-wise Causes
Lord Vishnu
Dosha: Vata/Pitta/Kapha
Concept: Ahita-sevana (indulgence in harmful regimen) provokes doṣas; harmful factors combine in doṣa-specific ways (threefold for the three doṣas).
Vedantic Theme: Ethics of self-care (deha-dharma) as a support for higher pursuits; negligence strengthens avidyā through suffering.
Application: Adopt preventive discipline: identify and avoid personal ‘ahita’ triggers; learn doṣa-specific incompatibilities and combinations to reduce recurrence.
Primary Rasa: shanta

This verse states that indulging in unwholesome or harmful practices is a direct cause of aggravation (prakopa), so restraint and right regimen are presented as essential for balance and well-being.
By linking harmful conduct to “aggravation” and earlier-described threefold factors, it frames bodily and moral discipline as part of the broader karmic causality that affects one’s suffering and condition.
Avoid habits that are repeatedly harmful (diet, addictions, unethical routines), and cultivate a balanced regimen—because repeated unwholesome choices accumulate into distress and imbalance.
