Application: When breaking a fast, first complete the intended offering/donation; then eat simply and moderately, avoiding rebound indulgence.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: vira

Type: ritual space (home/temple)

FAQs

This verse treats pāraṇa as a formal, rule-bound completion of a vow—done after offering the requisite gifts—so the vrata is concluded correctly and respectfully.

It emphasizes sequence and restraint: first dāna (including gold as prescribed), then pāraṇa, and even then one should avoid overeating—highlighting self-control as part of dharma.

When ending any fast or religious observance, complete any promised charity first and break the fast moderately rather than indulging—keeping the spirit of discipline intact.
