Lord Vishnu (speaking to Garuda/Vainateya)

Concept: Sat-vidyā is non-depleting; teaching and sharing increase understanding and benefit, like a well that yields more water when drawn.

Vedantic Theme: Jnana as self-luminous and expansive; śravaṇa–manana–nididhyāsana deepen through articulation and transmission.

Application: Teach what you learn; study circles and mentorship; revise by explaining—knowledge consolidates and multiplies through sharing.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Type: water-source

FAQs

This verse teaches that true knowledge is inexhaustible and grows through sharing, making it a core dharmic asset rather than a possession that diminishes when distributed.

By emphasizing cultivation and transmission of satvidyā, it points to inner purification and right understanding as supports for dharmic conduct—foundational for a favorable post-death journey described elsewhere in the Garuda Purana.

Study ethical/spiritual teachings and share them through teaching, discussion, or guidance—treating knowledge as a public good that strengthens both the giver and the receiver.
