Nābhāga’s Inheritance, Śiva’s Verdict, and the Rise of Ambarīṣa—Prelude to Durvāsā’s Offense
भ्रातरोऽभाङ्क्त किं मह्यं भजाम पितरं तव । त्वां ममार्यास्तताभाङ्क्षुर्मा पुत्रक तदादृथा: ॥ २ ॥
bhrātaro ’bhāṅkta kiṁ mahyaṁ bhajāma pitaraṁ tava tvāṁ mamāryās tatābhāṅkṣur mā putraka tad ādṛthāḥ
Nābhāga fragte: „Brüder, welchen Anteil am Erbe unseres Vaters habt ihr mir gegeben?“ Die Älteren antworteten: „Dein Anteil ist der Vater.“ Als Nābhāga jedoch zu seinem Vater ging und sagte: „Vater, meine älteren Brüder haben dich mir als Anteil gegeben“, erwiderte der Vater: „Mein Sohn, stütze dich nicht auf ihre betrügerischen Worte; ich bin nicht dein Besitz.“
