Mandodarī is presented as the chief queen of Rāvaṇa; in this verse she is seen with the women of Laṅkā, grieving and rushing out while crying.
The verse depicts the aftermath of calamity in Laṅkā—Mandodarī and many rākṣasī women emerge in anguish, indicating a great loss and upheaval connected to Rāvaṇa’s defeat.
Worldly power and security can collapse suddenly; the scene urges humility and detachment, and turning one’s shelter toward dharma and devotion rather than pride.
