Bhāgavatam Mahimā — The Glory, Measure, Transmission, and Gift of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam
Lord Kṛṣṇa enlightened Brahmā with the knowledge of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam before the creation of this universe, as indicated here by the word pūrvam. Also, the first verse of the Bhāgavatam states, tene brahma hṛdā ya ādi-kavaye: “Lord Kṛṣṇa expanded perfect knowledge into the heart of Lord Brahmā.” Because conditioned souls can experience only temporary objects, which are created, maintained and destroyed, they cannot readily understand that Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is an eternal, transcendental literature nondifferent from the Absolute Truth.
This verse states that the Lord revealed the Bhāgavatam out of compassion to Brahmā when he was fearful of saṁsāra—implying that divine revelation and bhakti-centered knowledge are the remedy for existential fear.
Because Brahmā, situated on the lotus from the Lord’s navel, was afraid of material existence; the Lord, moved by mercy (kāruṇya), disclosed the Bhāgavatam to guide him toward truth and shelter.
When anxiety and insecurity arise from worldly pressures, take shelter of bhakti teachings—study and hear Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam as a compassionate guide meant to lift one beyond fear and confusion.
