Kurukṣetra Pilgrimage: Sages Praise Kṛṣṇa; Vasudeva Inquires on Karma; Viṣṇu-yajña Performed
वसुदेव भवान् नूनं भक्त्या परमया हरिम् । जगतामीश्वरं प्रार्च: स यद् वां पुत्रतां गत: ॥ ४१ ॥
vasudeva bhavān nūnaṁ bhaktyā paramayā harim jagatām īśvaraṁ prārcaḥ sa yad vāṁ putratāṁ gataḥ
O Vasudeva, ohne Zweifel habt ihr beide, du und deine Gemahlin, Śrī Hari, den Herrn aller Welten, in höchster Bhakti verehrt; darum nahm Er die Rolle eures Sohnes an.
Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī paraphrases the sages’ mood as follows: “We have answered you, who questioned us in the manner of ordinary discourse, in the same ordinary way. In truth, however, since you are the eternally liberated father of the Supreme Lord, neither worldly customs nor the injunctions of scripture have any authority over you.”
This verse states that the Lord came as their son because Vasudeva worshiped Hari, the Lord of all worlds, with supreme devotion.
In the Kurukṣetra reunion, Kuntī recognizes Vasudeva’s exalted devotion and acknowledges that such bhakti is the reason the Supreme Lord accepted birth in his family.
Practice steady devotion—hearing, chanting, and serving with sincerity—understanding that pure bhakti draws the Lord’s presence and guidance into one’s life.
