Pūtanā-mokṣa — The Witch Pūtanā’s Attempt and Kṛṣṇa’s Deliverance
This verse states that Kaṁsa dispatched the terrifying Pūtanā to roam through populated places—especially Vraja—killing infants, driven by his fear of the prophesied child who would destroy him.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī narrates this verse to Mahārāja Parīkṣit while describing the events leading to Pūtanā’s arrival in Vraja.
The verse highlights how fear and hatred can lead to widespread harm; for a devotee, it reinforces taking shelter of Bhagavān and maintaining vigilance and purity in one’s environment, trusting divine protection while acting responsibly.
