Kṛṣṇa Visits Trivakrā; Akrūra’s Praise and the Hastināpura Mission
śrī-bhagavān uvāca tvaṁ no guruḥ pitṛvyaś ca ślāghyo bandhuś ca nityadā vayaṁ tu rakṣyāḥ poṣyāś ca anukampyāḥ prajā hi vaḥ
In this verse, Krishna honors an elder as guru, paternal uncle, and constant well-wisher, teaching that dharma includes reverence, gratitude, and proper conduct toward senior family members.
Krishna speaks with humility, affirming the social and dharmic role of elders/guardians: they protect, support, and show compassion to those under their care, even when the speaker is the Supreme Lord.
Cultivate respectful speech toward elders, acknowledge their guidance, and uphold responsibility for those who depend on you—protection, support, and compassion as daily dharma.
