Aghāsura-vadha: The Killing and Deliverance of Aghāsura

तद् ब्रूहि मे महायोगिन्परं कौतूहलं गुरो । नूनमेतद्धरेरेव माया भवति नान्यथा ॥ ४२ ॥

tad brūhi me mahā-yogin paraṁ kautūhalaṁ guro nūnam etad dharer eva māyā bhavati nānyathā

O großer Yogin, mein Lehrer, löse mir diese große Neugier: Wie konnte dies geschehen? Gewiss ist es allein Haris māyā, nicht anders.

Kṛṣṇa has many potencies: parāsya śaktir vividhaiva śrūyate ( Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad 6.8). The description of Aghāsura was disclosed after one year. Some act of Kṛṣṇa’s potency must have been involved. Therefore Mahārāja Parīkṣit was very curious to know about this, and he requested Śukadeva Gosvāmī to explain it.

FAQs

This verse states that the astonishing events in Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes are to be understood as the special potency (māyā) of Lord Hari alone—no ordinary cause can explain them.

Hearing extraordinary, seemingly impossible events in Kṛṣṇa’s Vraja pastimes, Parīkṣit expresses deep wonder and asks his guru Śukadeva to explain, concluding that only the Lord’s divine power can account for it.

When life presents bewildering reversals or miracles, a devotee remembers the Lord’s supreme control and seeks spiritual understanding from śāstra and guru, responding with humility, faith, and steady bhakti rather than anxiety.
