Kali-yuga onset, Saptarṣi reckoning, Dharaṇī-gītā, and closure of the dynastic account
ity ete dharaṇīgītāḥ ślokā maitreya yaiḥ śrutaiḥ mamatvaṃ vilayaṃ yāti tāpanyastaṃ yathā himam
Sage Parāśara (addressing Maitreya)
This verse states its fruit: hearing the Earth’s teaching dissolves mamatva—possessive identification—making the listener inwardly free and fit for higher dharma and devotion.
Parāśara compares the result to snow melting in warmth: when these verses are heard and absorbed, attachment and ‘mine-ness’ naturally liquefy and disappear.
By weakening possessiveness, the heart turns from ownership to surrender, aligning the devotee with Vishnu’s sovereignty as the Supreme Reality and true support of the world.
