Yatinātha-līlā: Śiva’s Test of the Bhilla Devotees at Arbuda Mountain
nandīśvara uvāca | tacchutvā śambhuvacanaṃ paramānandadāyakam | sukhaṃ prāptaṃ viśeṣeṇa na kiṃcitsmaraṇaṃ yayau
Nandishvara (Nandi)
Tattva Level: pashu
Role: liberating
It highlights Śiva’s anugraha (grace): merely hearing His bliss-giving teaching can quiet the mind so completely that ordinary memory and agitation subside, revealing a deeper, Shiva-centered peace.
In Saguna worship, the devotee approaches Śiva through form, name, and sacred speech (stotra, katha, mantra). This verse shows that Śiva’s expressed guidance—like Linga-upāsanā instructions—can directly grant inner tranquility and absorption.
Śravaṇa (devotional listening) and mantra-oriented recollection: regularly listen to Śiva-kathā or recite the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) until the mind rests in one-pointed stillness.
