It teaches that real vidyā is received through the guru with the attitude of a sākṣī (witness), free from pride, and is naturally accompanied by vinaya (humility)—a key Shaiva mark of ripening toward moksha under Pati’s grace.
Linga-worship in the Shiva Purana is grounded in disciplined receptivity and surrender; learning becomes fruitful when offered to Saguna Shiva as devotion, without ego, like a witness who lets Shiva’s presence (Linga) be the center.
Adopt guru-sevā and daily japa with a witness-attitude—especially Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya)—cultivating humility and restraint alongside simple Shiva-upāsanā (e.g., bhasma/Tripuṇḍra and respectful conduct).
