Khara’s Wrath and Śūrpaṇakhā’s Report
न हि पश्याम्यहं लोके यः कुर्यान्मम विप्रियम्।अमरेषु सहस्राक्षं महेन्द्रं पाकशासनम्।।।।
na hi paśyāmy ahaṃ loke yaḥ kuryān mama vipriyam | amareṣu sahasrākṣaṃ mahendraṃ pākaśāsanam ||
আমি এই জগতে এমন কাউকে দেখি না যে আমার অমঙ্গল করতে পারে; দেবলোকেও নয়—সহস্রাক্ষ মহেন্দ্র, পাকশাসন ইন্দ্রও নয়।
I can see none in this world who can offend me, nor even the thousand-eyed Indra among the gods.
The verse reflects kṣātra-dharma: the duty of a protector to stand fearless against wrongdoing. Confidence is framed as readiness to uphold righteousness, not mere pride.
Rāma is in a heightened martial stance, asserting that no being—human or even divine—can successfully harm him, setting the tone for immediate action.
Fearlessness and resolve (dhairya and vīrya), the steadfast courage expected of a righteous warrior.
