Chapter 270: Slaying of Prahasta; Defeat of Dhūmrākṣa; Awakening of Kumbhakarṇa
nihātya sarvān dviṣataḥ samagrān pārthāḥ sameṣyanty atha yājñasenyā | bhīru tvaṁ mahārāṇī draupadī-kṛte śokaṁ na kuru | tvaṁ budhyasva yathā sā adya punar iha āgamiṣyati | kuntī-putrāḥ sva-samasta-śatrūn saṁhatya drupada-kumārīṁ niyataṁ sameṣyanti ||
The passage frames grief within a dharmic horizon: steadfastness and trust in righteous effort. It consoles the queen by affirming that justice will be pursued (enemies will be overcome) and that separation is temporary, encouraging composure rather than despair.
Vaiśampāyana reports a reassurance given to a queen: Draupadī should not be mourned as lost. The speaker predicts that the Pāṇḍavas, after defeating their enemies, will certainly reunite with Draupadī (Yājñasenī), emphasizing an eventual restoration after conflict.
