नृशंसेन च वो युक्तांस्त्यजेयं शाश्वती: समा: । काले हि समनुप्राप्ते त्यक्तव्यमपि जीवनम्
nṛśaṃsena ca vo yuktāṃs tyajeyaṃ śāśvatīḥ samāḥ | kāle hi samanupprāpte tyaktavyam api jīvanam ||
বৈশম্পায়ন বললেন— যদি তোমরা নৃশংসতায় যুক্ত হও, তবে আমি তোমাদের চিরকাল ত্যাগ করব; কেননা যথোচিত সময় উপস্থিত হলে জীবন পর্যন্তও ত্যাগ করতে হয়।
