Kṛṣṇa at Duryodhana’s House: Refusal of Hospitality and Departure to Vidura (कृष्णस्य धार्तराष्ट्रनिवेशनगमनम्)
atho dhanañjayaṃ brūyā nityodyukte vṛkodaram | yadartha kṣatriyā sūte tasya kālo ’yam āgataḥ ||
The verse frames warfare not as personal aggression but as a time-bound obligation of kṣatriya-dharma: when justice and duty demand action, one must be ready to fulfill the purpose for which a warrior is born—protection of order and rightful claims.
Vaiśampāyana reports an instruction to convey a message to Arjuna and Bhīma: both should be reminded that the decisive moment has arrived to act according to their warrior role, implying imminent conflict and the need for steadfast readiness.
