नात:ः पापीयसीं काज्चिदवस्थां शम्बरो<ब्रवीत् । यत्र नैवाद्य न प्रातर्भोजनं प्रतिदृश्यते
nātaḥ pāpīyasīṃ kācid avasthāṃ śambaro ’bravīt | yatra naivādya na prātar-bhojanaṃ pratidṛśyate ||
যুধিষ্ঠির বললেন: শম্বর বলেছেন—এর চেয়ে নিকৃষ্ট অবস্থা আর নেই, যেখানে আজকের জন্যও খাদ্য দেখা যায় না, আর আগামীকালের প্রভাতের আহারও দৃষ্টিগোচর হয় না। এমন দারিদ্র্যের চেয়ে বড় দুঃখ আর নেই।
