Bhishma–Dhritarashtra Dialogue: Appraisal of Pandava Strength
एतस्य समर दृष्टवा न व्यथास्ति कथज्चन । उत्स्मयन्नुत्पतत्येष परान् रथपथे स्थितान्
etasya samare dṛṣṭvā na vyathāsti kathañcana | utsmayann utpataty eṣa parān rathapathe sthitān ||
যুদ্ধের ঘনঘটায় তাকে দেখলেও তার মনে কোনো ব্যথা বা কাঁপুনি জাগে না। হাসতে হাসতে সে রথপথে দাঁড়ানো শত্রুদের ওপর ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়ে।
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the ideal of unwavering courage in righteous combat: a warrior who does not succumb to fear or grief and advances with steady confidence, embodying the disciplined valor expected in kṣatriya-dharma.
Bhīṣma is describing a formidable fighter’s demeanor on the battlefield: upon seeing the clash, he shows no agitation and, smiling, charges at enemies positioned along the chariot-lanes of the battle formation.
