Udyoga Parva Adhyaya 133 — A Mother’s Counsel to Saṃjaya
युवा रूपेण सम्पन्नो विद्ययाभिजनेन च । यत् त्वादृशो विकुर्वीत यशस्वी लोकविश्रुत:
yuvā rūpeṇa sampanno vidyayābhijanena ca | yat tvādṛśo vikurvīta yaśasvī lokaviśrutaḥ ||
তুমি যৌবন ও রূপে সমৃদ্ধ, বিদ্যা ও কুলে ভূষিত; তবু লোকবিখ্যাত যশস্বী পুরুষ হয়ে তোমার মতো কেউ কীভাবে এমন আচরণ করতে পারে, যেমন তুমি এখন প্রদর্শন করছ?
पुत्र उवाच
Outer advantages—youth, beauty, education, and noble birth—create a higher ethical expectation. A person famed in society should act in a way that protects dharma and reputation, not in a manner that invites blame.
A son addresses a respected, well-known man and rebukes him, questioning how someone with such qualities and public renown could behave in a way that seems improper or unworthy.
