दक्षिणा चात्र देया वै निष्कपञ्चसुवर्णकम् | वाचकाय यथाशकक्त्या यथोक्तं फलमिच्छता
vaiśampāyana uvāca | dakṣiṇā cātra deyā vai niṣkapañcasuvarṇakam | vācakāya yathāśaktyā yathoktaṁ phalam icchatā ||
বৈশম্পায়ন বললেন— এখানেও অবশ্যই দক্ষিণা দিতে হবে—পাঁচটি স্বর্ণ-নিষ্ক। শাস্ত্রোক্ত ফল কামনা করলে মহাভারত শ্রবণের পর পাঠককে নিজের সামর্থ্য অনুযায়ী তা দান করা উচিত।
