Svargārohaṇa-parva Adhyāya 2 — Yudhiṣṭhira’s Inquiry for His Kin and the Vision of a Punitive Realm
आयाति वत्वयि दुर्धर्षे वाति पुण्य: समीरण: । तव गन्धानुगस्तात येनास्मान् सुखमागमत्
āyāti vat tvayi durdharṣe vātti puṇyaḥ samīraṇaḥ | tava gandhānugas tāta yenāsmān sukham āgamat ||
বৈশম্পায়ন বললেন— হে অদম্য বীর, তোমার আগমনে পরম পবিত্র সমীরণ বইতে শুরু করেছে। প্রিয়, সে তোমার দেহের সুগন্ধ বহন করে আনছে; তাতেই আমরা সান্ত্বনা ও আনন্দ লাভ করেছি।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse conveys that the presence of a great, virtuous person is itself purifying and auspicious—so much so that nature responds with signs of sanctity and comfort. Ethical excellence is portrayed as having a tangible, beneficent influence on the world around.
