यानर्थभाजो मन्येथास्ते ते स्यु: सुखभागिन: । तुम जिन्हें अपना प्रिय मानते हो, उन्हें धन, सम्मान, अर्घ्य, सत्कार तथा भिन्न-भिन्न प्रकारके भोगोंद्वारा संतुष्ट करो, जिससे वे तुम्हारे प्रियजन धन और सुखके भागी हों ।। ९६ || अभिन्नवृत्ता विद्वांस: सदवत्ताश्चरितव्रता: । नत्वां नित्यार्थिनो जहारक्षुद्रा: सत्यवादिन:,जिनका सदाचार नष्ट नहीं हुआ है, जो विद्वान, सदाचारी और उत्तम व्रतका पालन करनेवाले हैं; जिन्हें सदा तुमसे अभीष्ट वस्तुके लिये प्रार्थना करनेकी आवश्यकता पड़ती है तथा जो श्रेष्ठ और सत्यवादी हैं, वे कभी तुम्हारा साथ नहीं छोड़ सकते
yān arthabhājo manyethās te te syuḥ sukhabhāginaḥ | abhinna-vṛttā vidvāṃsaḥ sadvattāś carita-vratāḥ | na tvāṃ nityārthino jahyuḥ akṣudrāḥ satyavādinaḥ ||
ভীষ্ম বললেন—যাদের তুমি প্রিয় ও আশ্রয়যোগ্য মনে কর, তাদেরকে সমৃদ্ধি ও সুখের অংশীদার করো। ধন, সম্মান, অর্ঘ্য, আতিথ্য-সত্কার এবং নানা ভোগে তাদের তৃপ্ত রাখো। যাদের সদাচার অখণ্ড, যারা বিদ্বান, সদ্বৃত্ত ও ব্রতনিষ্ঠ—তারা নিত্য প্রয়োজনে সাহায্য চাইতে পারে বটে, তবু উদারচিত্ত ও সত্যবাদী হয়ে তোমাকে কখনও ত্যাগ করবে না।
