Nāgendra–Brāhmaṇa Saṃvāda: Praśna-vidhi and Dharmic Approach on the Gomatī Riverbank
nāsikyaṃ cāpi me janma tvattaḥ param ucyate | aṇḍajaṃ cāpi me janma tvattaḥ ṣaṣṭhaṃ vinirmitam ||
The verse frames identity and authority through sacred origins: multiple births are narrated to establish a being’s exceptional status and the creative power of the progenitor, emphasizing a cosmic order where creation and lineage carry ethical and spiritual weight.
The speaker recounts successive modes of coming into existence—first as ‘nostril-born’ (counted as the fifth birth), and then as ‘egg-born’ from the cosmic egg (the sixth birth)—as part of a larger mythic genealogy being related in the Śānti Parva.
