Transliteration

janamejaya uvāca | astauṣīd yair imaṃ vyāsaḥ saśiṣyo madhusūdanam | nāmabhir vividhais teṣāṃ nirukte bhagavan mama |

Translation

জনমেজয় বললেন—ভগবন্! মহর্ষি ব্যাস শিষ্যসমেত যে নানাবিধ নামে মধুসূদনকে স্তব করেছিলেন, সেই নামগুলির নিরুক্তি (ব্যুৎপত্তি ও অভিপ্রায়) আমাকে অনুগ্রহ করে বলুন। আমি প্রজাপতিদের অধিপতি ভগবান শ্রীহরির নামসমূহের ব্যাখ্যা শুনতে চাই; কারণ তা শুনলে আমি শরৎচন্দ্রের ন্যায় নির্মল ও পবিত্র হয়ে উঠব।
