Janaka–Sulabhā Dialogue on Mokṣa and Non-attachment
नारदाद् विदितं महामेतद् ब्रह्म सनातनम् | मा शुच: कौरवेन्द्र त्वं श्रुव्वैतत् परमं पदम्
bhīṣma uvāca | nāradād viditaṃ mahad etad brahma sanātanam | mā śucaḥ kauravendra tvaṃ śṛṇvaitat paramaṃ padam ||
ভীষ্ম বললেন—নারদের দ্বারা আমার কাছে এই মহান সনাতন ব্রহ্ম জ্ঞাত হয়েছে। হে কৌরবেন্দ্র! শোক কোরো না; এই পরম পদস্বরূপ উপদেশ শোনো।
भीष्म उवाच
That knowledge of the eternal Brahman—received through an authoritative sage-lineage—is the ‘supreme state’ (paramaṃ padam) and is presented as the remedy for grief: by turning the mind toward ultimate reality, sorrow rooted in worldly loss is to be relinquished.
Bhishma, instructing the Kuru king, introduces a high spiritual doctrine and legitimizes it by citing its transmission from Narada. He urges the listener to stop grieving and to hear the teaching that leads to the highest goal.
