Adhyāya 283: Varṇa-vṛtti, Nyāya-ārjana, and the Decline-and-Restoration of Dharma (वर्णवृत्तिः न्यायार्जनं च)
ādhāvanti pradhāvanti vāyuvegā manojavāḥ | cūrṇyante yajñapātrāṇi divyāny ābharaṇāni ca ||
The verse highlights how uncontrolled agitation and hostility can desecrate sacred spaces: when passions erupt, even objects meant for dharma—ritual vessels and revered ornaments—are reduced to ruin, showing the ethical cost of disorder and irreverence.
Dakṣa describes a chaotic scene in which swift attendants (pārṣadas) rush about violently, crushing sacrificial implements and breaking divine ornaments, indicating the breakdown of ritual order and the onset of destructive turmoil.
