সেই মহাশব্দে যজ্ঞে সমবেত সকল দেবতা ভীত ও ব্যাকুল হয়ে উঠলেন। এমন ভয়ংকর কোলাহল উঠল যে পর্বত ভেঙে চুরমার হয়ে ছিটকে পড়ল, পৃথিবী কেঁপে উঠল, প্রবল ঝড়ো হাওয়া বইতে লাগল, আর বরুণালয় সমুদ্রে মহাতুফান জেগে উঠল।
