श्रेयो-धर्मकर्मविचारः

सप्तोत्तरं तत्र वसत्यनीश: संहारविक्षेपशतं सशेषम् | तस्मादुपावृत्य मनुष्यलोके ततो महान् मानुषतामुपैति
saptottaraṃ tatra vasaty anīśaḥ saṃhāra-vikṣepa-śataṃ saśeṣam | tasmād upāvṛtya manuṣya-loke tato mahān mānuṣatām upaiti ||
ভীষ্ম বললেন— যে যোগসাধনায় সম্পূর্ণ দক্ষ নয়, সে অবশিষ্ট সংস্কারসহ উপরলোকসমূহে সংহার ও বিক্ষেপের শত চক্রকাল পর্যন্ত অনিচ্ছায় বাস করে। তারপর সেখান থেকে ফিরে মানবলোকে পূর্বের চেয়ে অধিক মহত্ত্ব ও সামর্থ্যসম্পন্ন মানবদেহ লাভ করে।

In Bhishma’s instruction (Shanti Parva), he explains the post-death trajectory of a yoga-practitioner who is unable to finish the discipline: residence in higher worlds for an extended cosmic measure, followed by return to the human world in a more eminent birth, still bearing remaining karmic traces.
