Vṛtra–Uśanā exemplum begins
कामलोभानुबन्धेन पुरा ते यदसूयितम् । मया स्नेहमविज्ञाय तत्र मे क्षन्तुमहसि
kāmalobhānubandhena purā te yad asūyitam | mayā sneham avijñāya tatra me kṣantum arhasi ||
ভীষ্ম বললেন—পূর্বে কাম ও লোভের বন্ধনে আবদ্ধ হয়ে আমি তোমার প্রতি যে বিদ্বেষপূর্ণ কথা বলেছিলাম, তার অন্তর্নিহিত স্নেহ আমি বুঝতে পারিনি; সেই অপরাধের জন্য তুমি আমাকে ক্ষমা করো।
