अधर्मान्त्हिता वेदा वेदधर्मास्तथा55 श्रमा: । विक्रियन्ते स्वधर्मस्था: स्थावराणि चराणि च
adharmāntarhitā vedā vedadharmās tathāśramāḥ | vikriyante svadharmasthāḥ sthāvarāṇi carāṇi ca ||
ব্যাস বললেন—যখন অধর্ম প্রবল হয়, তখন বেদ যেন অন্তর্হিত হয়ে যায়; বৈদিক ধর্ম ও আশ্রমধর্মও আচ্ছন্ন হয়। তখন স্থাবর ও জঙ্গম—যারা স্বধর্মে স্থিত—তারাও ধর্ম থেকে বিকৃত হয়; সর্বত্র বিকার ছড়িয়ে পড়ে।
