प्राप्प लोके च सत्कारं स्वर्ग वै प्रेत्य गच्छति । जितेन्द्रिय पुरुष किसीके साथ वैर नहीं करता। उसका सबके साथ अच्छा बर्ताव होता है। वह निन्दा और स्तुतिमें समान भाव रखनेवाला
prāpya loke ca satkāraṃ svargaṃ vai pretya gacchati |
ভীষ্ম বললেন—যে ব্যক্তি ইন্দ্রিয়সংযমী, সে কারও প্রতি বৈরভাব পোষণ করে না এবং সকলের সঙ্গে সদ্ব্যবহার করে। নিন্দা ও প্রশংসায় সে সমভাবাপন্ন, সদাচারী, শিষ্ট ও সংযত, প্রফুল্লচিত্ত, ধৈর্যশীল এবং নিজের দোষ দমন করতে সক্ষম। এমন ব্যক্তি ইহলোকে সম্মান লাভ করে এবং মৃত্যুর পরে স্বর্গলোকে গমন করে।
