Adhyāya 166: Kṛtaghna-doṣa (कृतघ्नदोषः) — the fault of ingratitude and the limits of expiation
परिवेष्टाग्निहोत्रस्य भवेन्नासंस्कृतस्तथा । न कन्या, न युवती, न मन्त्र न जाननेवाला, न मूर्ख और न संस्कारहीन पुरुष ही अग्निमें हवन करनेका अधिकारी है
pariveṣṭāgnihotrasya bhavennāsaṁskṛtastathā |
ভীষ্ম বললেন—অগ্নিহোত্র ও তার সহিত অনুষঙ্গী ক্রিয়ায় অসংস্কৃত (দীক্ষাহীন) ব্যক্তির অধিকার নেই। না কন্যা, না অবিবাহিতা যুবতী, না মন্ত্র না-জানা ব্যক্তি, না মূর্খ, আর না সংস্কারহীন পুরুষ—অগ্নিতে হোম করার যোগ্য।
